CCL's Aboriginal Learning Knowledge Centre (ABLKC) hosted its 2nd Annual Conference at the Westin Bayshore in downtown Vancouver, in partnership with the First Nations Education Steering Committee (FNESC).

The report provides a comprehensive review of the conference keynotes, presentations, and discussion groups. It also provides an in-depth analysis of the featured speakers on Indigenous Knowledge who shared a diverse range of knowledge and perspectives—from Hawaii to Nunavut—on learning and humanity. In addition, the report features the progress of the bundles' research and mapping of promising practices.

Highlights
  • Pre-Conference Showcase: Holistic Learning Practices - day of Feb. 28th
  • Workshops, presentations and featured speakers on Indigenous knowledge and ways of knowing - Feb. 29 and Mar. 1 on Indigenous knowledge and meeting the needs of Aboriginal learners
  • Mealtime conversation circles, hot breakfast and lunch provided
  • Banquet showcasing Indigenous artists in the performing and literary arts
  • Town Hall meeting to discuss ABLKC news and progress

Attendance ranged from educators and students, ABLKC Consortium, ABLKC National Advisory Committee Members, ABLKC Associates, national Aboriginal organization leaders, governments and policy leaders, politicians, professionals and community leaders. Those in attendance gathered to share knowledge about holistic learning practices and showcase promising practices that support learning in all the stages of life.
