Community Outreach Initiative

Community Outreach Initiative (Promo graphic)The Canadian Council on Learning's Adult Learning Knowledge Centre is pleased to announce the launch of five new reports related to AdLKC's Community Outreach Initiative. Guided by the principle that communities are the best experts, the outreach project arranged for a series of consultation meetings with five identity-based communities in Atlantic Canada, to discuss adult learning needs within their communities.

The five communities are: Aboriginal, African-Canadian, Francophone, immigrants, and learners with disabilities. The reports provide a synopsis of the discussion, conclusions, and recommendations within each community.

While each of the five communities is distinct in its history, character, and concerns, each shares a desire to increase adult learning opportunities available to their communities, to expand their knowledge, understanding and skills, and to improve the future for themselves and their children. The reports of AdLKC's community outreach initiative offer insight into adult learning from the perspectives of five vital communities within Atlantic Canada.
