CCL and the Canadian Foundation for Economic Education (CFEE) are co-sponsoring a session during the 12th International Economic Forum of the Americas/Conference of Montréal, Growing through partnership: From risk to reward.

The session co-sponsored by CCL and CFEE is entitled The Learning Culture in the Workplace: Concepts, Creation and Consequences and takes place 10:00 a.m. to noon on June 6.

The Learning Culture in the Workplace will address the strategic value of workplace training and will also feature presentations about organizations where learning in the workplace has had a measurable impact on the performance of the firm and of its employees. Speakers include Yvon Bolduc, President and CEO, Le Fonds de solidarité FTQ; David Sherlock, Chief Inspector and Chief Executive, Adult Learning Inspectorate (ALI), Coventry, U.K.; Jim Stanford, Economist, CAW Canada; Lois A. Vitt, Chair and Founding Director, Institute for Socio-Financial Studies (ISFS), Middleburg, Virginia, U.S.; and John Young, Manager, Skills Training, Dofasco Inc. Gérard Veilleux, President, Power Communications, and Director, Canadian Council on Learning, will chair this session.

In addition, CCL President and CEO Paul Cappon will be the keynote speaker at a working breakfast on June 6 at 7:30 a.m. His remarks will focus on the seven broad issues identified by the Policy Action Group on Learning as key to a global learning agenda in the 21st century, including the use of information and communications technology in learning, the appropriate role of the private sector and lifelong learning in a global context.

The conference runs from June 5 to 8, 2006, at the Hilton Bonaventure Montréal, 900 West de la Gauchetière Street.
