Conference of Montreal
Training for Productivity Gains

June 20, 2007

Hilton Bonaventure, Montreal

Event Description

What is the connection between investing in workplace-based training and productivity gains?

CCL in collaboration with the Canadian Foundation for Economic Education will present a forum at the 13th edition of the Conference of Montreal to illustrate this connection.

Because society increasingly values training and recognizes the benefits tied to ongoing training, workplaces are increasingly offering ongoing skills training to employees in an effort to face international competition. CCL will present existing models, either practice-based—business and industries that have invested in training and have documented concrete productivity gains—or policy-based—a government that has specifically linked the two and have demonstrable results.

The models will be presented by the following  panellists:

  • From a Canadian perspective, the Honourable Perrin Beatty, President and CEO, Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters;
  • From Brazil, Mr. Remigio Todeschini, up until recently Chair of the Fundo de Amparo do Trabalhador (FAT, Brazil Workers’ Support Fund) now Chair of Fundacentro, Centre for study, research and education in Workplace health and safety
  • From Europe, Mr. John West, Head of the Public Affairs Division and OECD Forum Director
