Theme for this year’s conference is Learning and Leading – Celebrating 27 years of Community Schools.
In 1980, the Saskatchewan Community School Program was developed by Saskatchewan Learning (then Saskatchewan Education). During the early 1980's a group of Community Education professionals formed the Saskatchewan Community Schools Association. Community Schools in Saskatchewan have been delivering a Community Education Program for many years. As more schools have become designated Community Schools (increased from 16 schools in 1980 to 99 officially designated schools in 2003), this innovative, effective way of approaching education is becoming mainstream.
There will be a presentation by the Aboriginal Learning Knowledge Centre’s Animation Theme Bundle #4—Diverse Educational Systems and Learning—Lead: Ted Amendt, Acting Director of First Nations and Métis Education, Saskatchewan Learning.
