Aboriginal Learning and Information Data Strategy Workshop

Oct. 28-29, 2008

Best Western Victoria Park Suites, Ottawa, Ontario

Event Description

The Canadian Council on Learning (CCL) is coordinating a workshop to work towards developing an Aboriginal Learning Information and Data Strategy (ALIDS) that supports the comprehensive and timely assessment of the state of lifelong learning for Aboriginal Peoples in Canada.  This workshop will bring together Aboriginal learning professionals, various federal, provincial and territorial government departments, school boards/divisions, universities and colleges, researchers, Statistics Canada, First Nations Regional Health Survey and others to work towards developing an ALIDS.

This workshop is a continuation of the initiative, Redefining How Success is Measured in First Nations, Inuit and Métis Learning, where new approaches to monitoring progress across the full spectrum of Aboriginal learning are being explored.

If you are interested in participating in this workshop please RSVP by emailing Sheena Powell at aboriginalworkshop@ccl-cca.ca.  There is no workshop fee but participants, for the most part, are expected to cover their travel and accommodation costs.  However, for those community representatives or organizations that require support, CCL is able to provide funding to ensure your participation.
