CCL’s Journal of Applied Research on Learning launched

CCL is proud to announce the launch of the first issue of the Journal of Applied Research on Learning (JARL). Unique in Canada, JARL is a biannual, peer-refereed research publication that addresses specific, practical problems affecting learning in Canada and applied research of significance to learning in the Canadian context.

“JARL was created to help meet the growing need of Canadians for free and easy access to important and innovative research on learning”, says Charles Ungerleider, Senior Editor of JARL and Director of Research and  Knowledge Mobilization for CCL. “A key component of CCL’s mandate is to use research and evidence to help answer questions about learning.  It is also CCL’s goal to make knowledge about learning accessible to Canadians.  JARL helps us achieve these objectives by disseminating quality, applied research on learning that has practical implications for learners, educators, employers and policy-makers.”

JARL is available online as a free publication containing scholarly articles in both French and English. It is meant to be a forum for the exchange of results and ideas from quality applied research.

It was at a conference in B.C. last September that Silken Laumann first heard the quotation that encapsulates her attitude towards learning: “To dare is to lose one's footing momentarily. To not dare is to lose oneself.” Read the profile »
