CCL issues RFP for health and learning research projects
CCL is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for research projects in health and learning in Canada. Community-based organizations, businesses, labour organizations, and research and academic institutions interested in entering into an agreement to conduct research projects on health and learning in Canada are invited to submit their proposals by midnight on Oct. 16, 2006 (EDT).
Celebrate International Literacy Day!
Sept. 8, 2006, marks the 36th worldwide celebration of International Literacy Day, providing Canadians an opportunity to reflect on the importance of literacy to individuals and to our country. UNESCO chose this year’s theme, “Literacy sustains development," to emphasize that “literacy is not only a positive outcome of development … but also a lever of change and an instrument for achieving … social progress.” Read article »
CCL posts workplace learning state-of-the-field review
CCL has posted its state-of-the-field review on workplace learning entitled What We Know and What We Need to Know about Competencies, Diversity, E-Learning and Human Performance Improvement. This review was conducted for CCL by the Canadian Society for Training and Development.
In July 2005, CCL issued a request for proposals (RFP) for state-of-the-field reviews to identify existing research in different domains, the gaps in knowledge, and the most profitable lines for future inquiry. CCL funded a wide range of reviews and is posting each of them online.
Aboriginal Learning Knowledge Centre Celebration Event—Oct. 19, 2006
CCL’s Aboriginal Learning Knowledge Centre, which was announced in March 2006, will host a celebration event at the Wanuskewin Heritage Park in Saskatoon from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19. The event will be hosted by the co-leads of the knowledge centre, Dr. Marie Battiste of the Aboriginal Education Research Centre and Dr. Vivian Ayoungman of the First Nations Adult Higher Education Consortium. Reminder: New Journal of Applied Research on Learning calls for manuscripts
CCL is launching the Journal of Applied Research on Learning (JARL), Canada’s first publication devoted to this topic. The first issue of JARL will be released in April 2007. Submissions are due by Oct. 31, 2006. Authors of original applied research interested in submitting manuscripts to be considered for publication in JARL should start by reviewing the full call for submissions.
