Launch of the Canadian Council for Learning’s Adult Learning Knowledge Centre

Jamie Muir, Minister of Education of Nova Scotia

Sept. 7, 2005

Message sent to be read on his behalf

On behalf of the province of Nova Scotia, I congratulate the Canadian Council on Learning on the opening of its Adult Learning Knowledge Centre at the University of New Brunswick.

The launch of the new Knowledge Centre reinforces the importance of adult learning. Here in Canada, our greatest asset is our people, and the strong economy and vibrant society we enjoy is largely due to our well-educated and highly-skilled workforce.

Promoting lifelong learning is a fundamental step to ensure Canadians can participate fully in the workplace and in society. Lifelong learning requires the commitment of a variety of partners in government, business, community, industry and educational institutions. If we share the responsibility, the potential for adult learning opportunities is very strong indeed.

Best of luck!
