Journal of Applied Research on Learning (JARL)

About JARL

JARL is a peer-refereed, online journal available through CCL’s website as a free publication containing scholarly articles in both French and English. JARL is currently published twice per year and seeks to act as a forum for the exchange of results and ideas stemming from quality applied research on learning conducted in Canada or that is relevant to the Canadian context.

The aims of JARL

  • To highlight examples of quality, applied research on learning in the various domains of interest to CCL (adult learning, early childhood learning, work and learning, Aboriginal learning, health and learning, structured learning, learning in French-language minority settings, literacy, as well as learning discussed and researched in relation to gender, culture, and e-learning)
  • To make available examples of and discussions about applied research on learning to our varied readership and, specifically, to learning practitioners and researchers, as well as policy-makers
  • To act as a link between learning theory, learning research and learning practice
  • To stimulate discussion of ideas about learning
  • To contribute to the development of research capacity in Canada
