CCL Home > About CCL > Joint Initiatives
As announced in the fall of 2011, CCL will close its doors permanently in the spring of 2012.
CCL deeply appreciates all the support it has received from employees, volunteers and stakeholders since its inception in 2004 and extends heartfelt thanks to all those who have contributed to its success.
Structured learning refers to the formal education system, from kindergarten through to post-secondary education.
CCL is working with provincial and territorial governments, school boards and the Canadian Teachers' Federation on a variety of initiatives that will contribute to a better understanding of effective learning practices in the structured system. Current initiatives include a Researchers in Residence program and joint work on literacy and other topics of mutual interest.
Many of the provinces and territories are also engaged with CCL's knowledge centres on issues such as adult learning, health and learning, and Aboriginal learning.
In addition, CCL is developing two new networks to support research and knowledge exchange for the structured learning system:
Pan-Canadian Network of Governments on Structured Learning: Will include federal and provincial ministries and departments of education, learning and training. It will focus on policy-related research in formal education. Non-governmental Organizations/Government Network: Will include national, education-related NGOs, and provincial and territorial governments. It will provide support for applied research on learning and develop proposals to improve learning practices.
