The Adult Learning Knowledge Centre's 2009 national symposium was held June 8–10, 2009, at the Marriott Château Champlain Hotel, in Montreal, Quebec. This event, under the theme Linking Communities / Overcoming Barriers, focused on surmounting the separations that exist among Canada's diverse communities, and overcoming the barriers faced by adult learners.
The future of adult learning in Canada lies in building networks, developing exchange opportunities and creating synergy. It is essential to cross boundaries and overcome barriers for Canada to build a strong, innovative, and diversified knowledge-based economy and society.
The 2009 symposium provided an opportunity to learn about the many and diverse adult-learning initiatives taking place in communities within Québec and all over Canada.
