The Aboriginal Learning Knowledge Centre's first annual conference was held at the Edmonton Marriot River Cree Resort on March 7–9, 2007. This national event brought together Aboriginal people from across the country. Participants were engaged in a dialogue on the diverse perspectives of lifelong learning and discussed the results of an earlier workshop, which explored how to develop a more holistic approach to measurement in order to recognize all aspects of lifelong learning that impact the individual and collective well-being of Aboriginal communities.
The workshop on Feb. 8–9, 2007, conducted by CCL and the Aboriginal Learning Knowledge Centre, in partnership with the National Aboriginal Organizations (NAO) in Canada, examined how to redefine learning success for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. The two-day workshop brought together Aboriginal learning professionals, community practitioners, researchers and analysts to initiate the development of three distinct holistic lifelong learning models to measure learning progress for First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities.
