Being Systematic: An Effective Approach to Locating Research about Learning

Event Description

Terri Thompson, research analyst at CCL facilitates this one-day workshop designed for students, practitioners, advocates, academics and policy analysts who are interested in locating research about learning across the lifespan. Participants will learn how to locate research systematically by:

  • Identifying databases of particular relevance to their area of interest;
  • Learning how to develop a comprehensive, yet specific search strategy;
  • Increasing the effectiveness, efficiency and inclusivity of their searches;
  • Documenting their research using a set of CCL Systematic Research templates; and,
  • Learning how to utilize citation management programs.

This event precedes Bridging Communities: Making public knowledge - Making knowledge public, the Canadian Society for the Study of Education’s annual conference taking place from May 25–29, 2007. The workshop is jointly sponsored by CCL, the Faculty of Education at the University of Saskatchewan and the Canadian Society for the Study of Education.
