National Dialogue on Aboriginal Learning Knowledge Centre – November 13-14, 2005, Ottawa

CCL is convening a development conference to discuss the creation of its Aboriginal Learning Knowledge Centre, which will be located in the region encompassing the Prairie provinces, Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

The conference has a number of specific goals:

  • To bring together leaders in the field of Aboriginal learning to examine the current challenges and possible solutions;
  • To discuss how a knowledge centre could help address those challenges and support CCL’s work in research, reporting and knowledge exchange;
  • To provide insights through speakers, background papers and dialogue, and articulate clear perspectives on the scope of Aboriginal learning;
  • To inform participants of relevant studies or knowledge-related initiatives from CCL or other major organizations;
  • To enable conference participants to discuss and agree on the framework, parameters and principles that should underlie a proposal to CCL to establish a Knowledge Centre on Aboriginal Learning, as well as to define subsequent steps and consultations required to ensure a transparent and collaborative submission of a joint proposal or proposals;
  • To provide a post-conference opportunity for participants to discuss next steps to develop a regional/national network and a joint, collaborative proposal or proposals to CCL for the operation of the Knowledge Centre.

The conference is by invitation only. For more information, please contact Daryl Rock.
