Important message regarding CCL’s Work and Learning Knowledge Centre
On Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006, the Board of Directors of the Canadian Labour and Business Centre (CLBC) voted unanimously to dissolve the organization in light of the funding cut by the federal government to CLBC’s Workplace Partners Panel (WPP) initiative, to take effect on Dec. 1, 2006.
CLBC is currently the lead organization for CCL’s Work and Learning Knowledge Centre, which is composed of 150 organizations active in the field of workplace learning. CCL is working to identify a new lead organization for the Knowledge Centre. Our goal is to ensure that the Knowledge Centre delivers its active work plan without interruption. We are confident that this will be accomplished quickly and effectively, and will keep you informed as decisions are made.
The Work and Learning Knowledge Centre was created to help ensure that Canadians continue to learn for work and from work, and to improve their opportunities for a successful and fulfilling career. Its purpose is to identify and capture existing knowledge on workplace learning, package it and use it to influence the learning decisions of stakeholder groups.
CCL wishes to express its appreciation to Shirley Seward and the rest of the staff at the Canadian Labour and Business Centre, who brought together an impressive consortium that represents Canada’s leading experts in workplace learning from across the country, including labour and business organizations, researchers and training providers. They built a solid foundation that will ensure the ongoing success of the Work and Learning Knowledge Centre.
