CCL report calls for road map for PSE in Canada

On Dec. 11, 2007, CCL released its second annual report on the state of PSE. Entitled Post-secondary Education in Canada: Strategies for Success, this publication undertakes an extensive review of the country's PSE sector, including universities, colleges and apprenticeship programs.

The report comprises four parts:

  • Part I examines the sector from a countrywide perspective, drawing on domestic and international statistics and indicators for the eight goals and objectives for PSE identified in CCL's 2006 report;
  • Part II proposes a comprehensive, pan-Canadian data strategy to provide the information needed to strengthen the country’s PSE sector;
  • Part III outlines how some of Canada’s major trading partners are monitoring and reporting on the state of PSE in their countries;
  • Part IV examines how a pan-Canadian framework for PSE could result in a more cohesive and systematic approach in addressing specific challenges, including quality assurance and accreditation, student mobility and credit transfer, and prior learning assessment and recognition (PLAR).
