CCL launches Practically Speaking, a new series highlighting effective learning practices

For years, educators have been searching for an effective way to address the high rate of high-school dropouts among Aboriginal youth. In 2003, April Shopland, a youth worker in a B.C. high school, and teacher Ken Lees decided to do something about it, launching “The Ravens,” a program aimed at re-connecting Aboriginal students with a love of learning.    
                  
This first article in CCL’s new series called Practically Speaking, explores the genesis of The Ravens program and how it has helped turn the tide in one school.

Practically Speaking is a new series of feature-length articles that highlight innovative, and inspirational, promising practices in each of CCL’s five main learning themes: Aboriginal, health, adult, work and early childhood learning. Go to article »
