Lessons in Learning: The replacements – Non-permanent teachers
Non-permanent teachers play an integral role in student learning and Canada’s education systems. From kindergarten through Grade 12, a student will be taught by a non-permanent teacher for the equivalent of one full year. As with permanent teachers, non-permanent teachers benefit from specialized pre-service preparation and continuing professional development, yet education and training geared toward non-permanent teachers is largely ignored. This article explores how teacher education programs, school districts and school boards, and teacher federations (unions and professional associations) might play a greater part in supporting non-permanent teachers. Economic success linked to investment in training
Connecting the Dots...Linking Training Investment to Business Outcomes and the Economy, a report published in April 2007 by CCL's Work and Learning Knowledge Centre, suggests that investment in training often helps businesses increase productivity and grow the economy more than upgrading equipment.
