Canada's score on annual learning index drops

For the first time Canada’s overall score on the Composite Learning Index has declined, according to the latest results from CCL’s annual measure of lifelong learning. The national average for 2009 is 75, a drop of two points from last year's score of 77.

Created in 2006, this unique tool uses an array of statistical indicators that reflect the many ways Canadians learn, formally and informally, to report the results of 4,700 cities and communities across Canada.

State of E-learning in Canada: Opportunities and challenges

A new CCL report states that e-learning—the application of computer technologies to education and training—holds much promise in Canada, yet several issues are constraining the country’s ability to take full advantage of its potential.

According to State of E-Learning in Canada, Canada has gained international recognition in the field of e-learning over the last decade. However, the levels of its adoption have been significantly slower than predicted, especially when compared to a number of other countries, such as Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States.
