Taking Stock of Lifelong Learning in Canada 2005–2010

A follow-up to CCL's landmark March 30, 2010 gathering with parliamentarians, this report serves two roles: it looks back on the progress of lifelong learning since CCL’s founding in 2005, and considers the future shape of lifelong learning given the current state of our country.

Majority of CCL's data now available online

In recognition of the release of Taking Stock of Lifelong Learning in Canada 2005–2010: Progress or Complacency?, CCL has made public most of the raw data it has used to craft our numerous reports over the past half-decade. This online Data Warehouse includes all of the indicators used in CCL’s State of Learning reports (2007, 2008, 2009–2010) and Post-secondary Education reports (2006, 2007, 2008–2009), in addition to new data updates.

Health literacy in Canada's immigrant population

According to CCL, nearly 60% of adult Canadians lack the capacity to obtain, understand and act upon health information and services. In addition to Canada’s aging population and the shrinking youth cohort, the growing immigrant population—which represents approximately 20% of Canada's current population—is an important contributor to these low levels of health literacy.

This new report conducted by Statistics Canada for CCL, examines the determinants of health literacy among immigrants and the relationship between health literacy and selected health outcomes.
