Funded Research

CCL's imminent closure

As announced in the fall of 2011, CCL will close its doors permanently in the spring of 2012.

CCL deeply appreciates all the support it has received from employees, volunteers and stakeholders since its inception in 2004 and extends heartfelt thanks to all those who have contributed to its success.

Reviewing Proposals

Funding for research projects is awarded on a competitive basis. When we decide to undertake research, we post a request for proposal (RFP) on this site.

All proposals are assessed for relevance, quality, content and methodology through our two-track peer-review process. Beside conceptual and methodological rigour, all research is tested for:

  • Relevance to ensure the results are useful for Canadians
  • Accessibility to ensure the findings are easily understandable
  • Scalability to ensure that the models can be economically implemented in other situations
  • Collaboration to ensure that the research is supported by other institutions and will help develop partnerships with those who use it

All CCL research projects must include explicit strategies for putting findings into action and developing partnerships between researchers, NGOs and various levels of government.

Call for Peers to Review Proposals

CCL has received an overwhelming response to its request for individuals to peer review its research proposals and welcomes new applicants on an ongoing basis. Our Peer Review Q&A helps explain our reviewing process.
