CCL's imminent closure
As announced in the fall of 2011, CCL will close its doors permanently in the spring of 2012. CCL deeply appreciates all the support it has received from employees, volunteers and stakeholders since its inception in 2004 and extends heartfelt thanks to all those who have contributed to its success.

As announced in the fall of 2011, CCL will close its doors permanently in the spring of 2012.

CCL deeply appreciates all the support it has received from employees, volunteers and stakeholders since its inception in 2004 and extends heartfelt thanks to all those who have contributed to its success.

Supporting research on learning and sharing the results with Canada’s learning community and the general public is a key part of CCL’s raison d’être. Our research activities have three main goals:

To foster high-quality research on learning
To build Canada’s capacity for research on learning
To encourage the use of research on learning so Canadians can make informed decisions

In 2006-2007 CCL commissioned, conducted and sponsored multiple individual research projects to help develop a useful base of evidence on key learning issues. Our research priorities are based on the findings of our ‘state of the field’ reviews and the priorities identified by our knowledge centres and partners.

All relevant research reports, papers and reviews will be posted on this site, as long as we hold the publishing rights.

Research Commissioned for CCL

Cost of Dropping Out

A new commissioned report presents the estimated costs—to individuals and the state—of dropping out of high school in Canada.

CCL commissions other agencies (e.g. Statistics Canada) and independent researchers to perform research that will help expand our knowledge about important learning issues. To date, CCL has commissioned research investigations on:

High-school dropouts
Student employment trends
Children’s behaviour problems and school functioning
Disabilities and access to education
Female students and the School Achievements Indicators Program (SAIP) with respect to science.
